Louisiana Solar Energy Laboratory (LaSEL)
Harnessing Sunlight. Driving Discovery.
The Louisiana Solar Energy Lab is one of the largest outdoor test facilities in the southeast United States, and is used for long-term operational testing of solar technologies including modules, inverters, and racking systems.
Research is currently being conducted on solar module degradation, soiling, and solar forecasting. The lab also supports education, workforce development, and outreach activities.

In February of 2022, the university broke ground on a new facility at the Louisiana Solar Energy Lab. This 4,500-square-foot building will serve as a hub for research, technology development, instruction, training, outreach, and workforce development.
It will include solar testing equipment, classrooms, interactive learning spaces, seminar rooms, and a visitor center with informational displays.

Beyond research and testing, the facility supports training, industry collaboration, and expansion of solar energy curriculum across the University.
