Scaling Production, Infrastructure, and Safety

Hydrogen Production Systems and Clean Energy Infrastructure

Hydrogen is a versatile, zero-emission energy vector capable of decarbonizing heavy industry, chemical manufacturing, long-haul transport, and long-duration energy storage. Whether produced through low-carbon natural gas reforming with carbon capture or water electrolysis powered by renewable electricity, hydrogen provides a scalable bridge between Louisiana's rich energy heritage and its low-carbon future.

Key Production Pathways & Infrastructure

Hydrogen engineering focuses on scaling production efficiency, transport logistics, and process safety across three primary frontiers:

01

Water Electrolysis (Green Hydrogen)

Utilizing advanced electrochemical cell stacks—such as Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM), Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM), and alkaline electrolyzers—to split water into pure hydrogen and oxygen with zero direct emissions.

02

Reforming with CCUS (Blue Hydrogen)

Coupling traditional Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) or Autothermal Reforming (ATR) with high-efficiency carbon capture to supply large-scale, low-carbon hydrogen to existing chemical corridors.

03

Storage, Logistics, & Fuel Cells

Compressing, liquefying, or chemically binding hydrogen into carriers (such as ammonia) for pipeline transport, underground salt cavern storage, and fuel cell electric power generation.
